Responsibilities

As a Construction Manager with Hines, you will act as the Owner's CM team to manage activities associated with the construction of the South Station project. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage Contractor's construction activities as directed by VP Construction
  • Interface with authorities having jurisdiction, including MBTA, Amtrak, ISD, BWSC, and BFD.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the South Station Headhouse Vendor Relocation program, including relationships with numerous retail vendors, their design consultants, Headhouse property management team, and AHJs.
  • Manage design team, Contractor and Subcontractor with respect to submittals, shop drawings and change orders.
  • Prepare, or assist in preparing, regular construction updates for ownership, as directed by VP Construction
  • Prepare and monitor construction budget updates, RFI reports, submittal reports, and change order reports
  • Develop and manage change order procedures for Contractor, design team, and ownership
  • Manage Contractor's monthly applications for payment process
  • Assist with development and management of the Contractor's punch listing activities
  • Control project documentation and historical data regarding construction
  • Encourage a safe working environment and reviews all required OSHA and Worker's Compensation safety and accident reports with Contractor
  • Manage all aspects of Owner's responsibilities in the implementation of a communications program to inform all stakeholders and patrons of South Station (Commuter Rail, Amtrak and bus operators and their patrons; Headhouse and bus terminal property management staff and vendors and their patrons) and property abutters (Fidelity and USPS) about how the project construction will impact them.

 

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in construction science, engineering or related field from an accredited institution
  • Five or more years general contractor or construction related experience with two or more of the years being in a management role
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Maintain professional demeanor in contentious situations for leadership role
  • Demonstrate understanding and successful application of general construction terminology and processes
  • Exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions, or solutions
  • Perform numerical and financial calculations including calculating surfaces, volumes, weights and measures
