The goal of the team is to provide transparency, responsiveness and high-quality, loan-level information and analysis to the investor community. The Multifamily Underwriting Senior Associate role focuses on credit assessment and presentation of loans originated/purchased for Freddie Mac Multifamily's securitization platform. The hired candidate will evaluate loans for credit risk through the review and completion of Asset Summary Reports and other due diligence materials. Loan production is nationwide and spans multiple multifamily sub-types including student, seniors, and affordable housing. - Analyze and recommend solutions for underwriting issues that arise during regional loan underwriting and securitization
- Assist with training, provide direction to and review work product of junior employees on the team
- Support and lead additional projects impacting risk distribution or cross-functional initiatives
- Monitor credit trends and summarize underwriting feedback from securitization for Freddie Mac Multifamily management and other internal parties
- Act as a point of contact for business partners regarding securitizations, own the loan-level credit analysis and understand the collateral composition of the pool
- Effectively communicate Freddie Mac's underwriting decisions and supporting detail to external parties in response to questions that arise during securitization due diligence process
- Act as a Relationship Manager with internal business partners such as regional offices and specialty programs
Qualifications
- Typically has 3 or more years of commercial real estate underwriting or credit analysis experience
- Solid understanding of credit risk analysis and mitigation related to leverage, cash flow, rent rolls, third party reports, loan structure, borrower credit worthiness, market analysis and asset quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or related field and/or comparable professional experience
- Understanding of loan documents, purpose and structure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem solving ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficient understanding of commercial real estate underwriting
- Ability to work efficiently and drive team execution under tight timelines, provide direction and prioritize between multiple assignments
