STATUS: Full-time, 10-month position

DEPARTMENT: College of Architecture and the Built Environment


The College of Architecture and the Built Environment seeks a dynamic, collaborative leader and real estate development educator with the credentials to join our faculty at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Real Estate Development. We seek a colleague to join us in advancing integrated design education at the University as full-time faculty for the academic year beginning spring semester 2020.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must have significant experience in college-level teaching in the field and a minimum of five years of industry experience in real estate development in a variety of settings and from multiple perspectives, including both public and private sectors.

The candidate’s research accomplishments and/or distinguished record of real estate development experience must qualify the person for appointment to the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The track (e.g. Tenure Track or Teacher Scholar Track) will be assigned base on the candidate’s credentials and scholarly achievements.

Candidates must have sound organizational and communication skills and must be a team player and relationship builder. An aptitude for professional and pedagogical engagement in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment is required.

Because the college seeks to expend its programs into the online environment, online teaching experience is desired.


EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Candidates must possess one of the following categories of acceptable academic credentials: 1) a combination of a professional bachelor’s and a master’s degree; 2) a terminal professional master’s degree; or 3) a doctorate or Ph.D. The disciplines for the degrees may be in real estate development, architecture or a closely related discipline, such as city and regional planning. Foreign equivalents to U.S. degrees are acceptable.

Candidates who possess professional credentials (e.g. LEED AP, AICP, etc.) are preferred.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The program director will oversee the graduate Real Estate Development program with responsibilities including development of courses and curricula; hiring and supervision of faculty; recruiting and advising students; facilitating and overseeing internships and experiential learning; overseeing assessment activities and program review processes; and responsibility for the program budget and enrollments. The director will teach courses, supervise internships and chair capstone projects. This is a 10-month faculty position with a reduced teaching load for administrative duties.
