About the Position:
Timbercreek is seeking a Director, US Origination who will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment to support the private debt team’s growth objectives.  The candidate will be an experienced real estate and finance professional, a self-starter, focused on results and a team player.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating the process of Loan Origination which includes; sourcing, preliminary evaluation, structuring and negotiation of new U.S. private commercial real estate debt opportunities
  • Frequently liaise and correspond with the origination team, borrower contacts and mortgage brokerage community to facilitate the origination of new mortgage/mezzanine loans for TMSI
  • Review new loan applications with the TMSI Origination Team on all types of real estate including office, retail, industrial, residential, land and development projects
  • Coordinate with Associates/Analysts the completion of detailed preliminary underwriting of loan investments presentations which includes the compiling of market information to support all assumptions for the investment
  • Team with the global credit team and support issuance of Term Sheets/Commitments and preparation of Loan Credit Submissions for Timbercreek Mortgage Servicing Inc. (“TMSI”) throughout the U.S.
  • Assist with and contribute to the process of making investment decisions and recommendations
  • Assist and provide on-going support to the TMSI management team for loan syndication efforts
  • Provide support to the TMSI management team for on-going management of the loan portfolio
  • Provide support for investor and capital partners marketing and portfolio reporting needs
  • Manage work volumes to meet short timelines with a high level of quality
  • Special Projects as assigned
  • Contribute positively to the working and branding culture of Timbercreek

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

 Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the commercial mortgage industry with a focus on property valuation, financial analysis, excel modeling and management of due diligence
  • An undergraduate degree

  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Word and Argus)
