Description


National Equity Fund, Inc. (NEF), a leading syndicator of low-income housing tax credits, is seeking a Construction Risk Manager to conduct or oversee construction due-diligence reviews for proposed rehab, renovation, and new construction projects; monitor progress and performance of projects under construction; assist asset management staff in evaluating properties and physical needs for existing portfolio.  Provide or review written reports regarding findings, make recommendations including value-engineering alternatives.  Monitor construction progress on multiple projects for quality, cost, and schedule compliance.  Provide support to our CDC/General Partners and assist in the development of solutions to meet quality, cost and schedule objectives.  Also, provide support to internal staff regarding general construction practices and assist in devising solutions to address issues on project.  Review and approve or comment on all disbursement request for equity and non-equity payments as submitted by internal and external parties. 

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction, or Construction Management.  Eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in construction management with at least two years’ experience in residential projects.  Prior experience with for-profit housing developers, non-profit community development corporations or the development of affordable housing a plus.  Also, needs proven knowledge of construction methods and practices, particularly in the areas of new residential construction, residential rehab, renovation, and International Building Code Standards. Experience in contract and construction document reviews, oversight of third party consultants and the development and presentation of value engineering alternatives.  Superior oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.  Must develop and maintain effective working relationships with NEF and LISC staff, non-profit developers, lenders, local and state government officials and other professional staff.
