POSITION SUMMARY: Analytical role focused primarily on commercial real estate valuation, related to the Bank’s national loan origination and acquisition platforms. Review commercial real estate collateral securing loans for all business lines of the Bank, develop opinions of value and assessments of market position and potential risks, and advise senior management and business development officers.  Open to hiring at a more senior level depending on experience.  Position may be based in either Boston or midtown Manhattan. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Complete underwriting, appraisal reviews, and valuation analysis on collateral securing loans purchased and originated for all business lines at the bank.
  • Conduct analysis relating to property value and market risk including online research, broker interviews, and financial modeling of property cash flows.
  • Participate in discussions where collateral and credit risks are evaluated and quantified. Provide consulting to asset management and loan acquisitions relating to credit, real estate matters and market risk.
  • Successfully pass technical and regulatory examinations required by the Company.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Between 1 and 5 years experience in finance or commercial real estate environment
  • Formal credit training a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Strong research skills – both on the Internet and phone
  • Continuing education in credit and/or real estate-related topics

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • Some travel is required.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and respectfully with colleagues, clients and vendors.
  • Consistently operate a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
  • Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level.
