As Realty Income’s Associate Director, Sustainability, you will help develop, communicate, implement, and execute the overall sustainability strategy for Realty Income Corporation. You will provide sustainability and project management experience to drive adoption of environmental, social, and governance best practices through education and collaboration. Your efforts will support annual stakeholder engagement, ESG framework reporting and our corporate sustainability report . Our Sustainability Department is a new, yet vital asset to our organization, and we are looking forward to having someone hit the ground running!

Your Contribution to the Team Includes

ESG Data:

  • Facilitate the process to collect, analyze, and report on ESG data, and identify opportunities to differentiate the net lease sector from other S&P500 REIT operators
  • Help create new data collection processes and systems to integrate and implement across the company to ensure systems meet ESG data needs
  • Develop, coach and mentor the organization about existing and new ESG-related reporting requirements with the potential to impact the company, and anticipate and research corporate sustainability trends

Reporting:

  • Collaborate with internal teams and facilitate annual sustainability report development
  • Coordinate effort for data collection and submission of key ESG reporting (DJSI, CDP, ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics, etc.)
  • Perform annual gap analysis of reporting, business processes, and engagement in order to identify gaps and opportunities. These opportunities will be prioritized and layered into overall sustainability strategy to deliver to management

Sustainability Strategy and Innovation:

  • Support incorporation of sustainability considerations into the wider business strategy to drive innovation via collaboration, scenario planning and robust prioritization of risk and opportunity
  • Assist in creating measurable, impactful, company-wide ESG goals to communicate to management with an execution roadmap
  • Competitive research and analysis of cross-industry ESG leaders to determine best practices and propose internal business cases for adoption
  • Collaborate with the AMREO and development departments to propose ways to reduce the environmental impact within the company
  • Educate internal and external stakeholders on purpose, mission, and value of ESG in business
  • Identify environmental impact initiatives at the asset level to reduce portfolio emissions regardless of tenant-landlord operational structure

What You’ll Need to be Successful

  • Required 4-year BA/BS in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Graduate level degree in sustainability-related field a plus
  • GHG analysis according to the GHG Protocol
  • Analytical, results oriented, with experience in managing data and using advanced Excel
  • Experience performing and analyzing lifecycle assessment (LCA) is highly desirable
  • 4+ years of experience in corporate sustainability role
  • Required experience in a corporate sustainability-related role, preferably supporting the implementation of a sustainability program, achieving sustainability targets, creating reporting/metrics, or ESG voluntary submissions (e.g., GRESB, CDP, SAM CSA, GEI)
  • Preferred TCFD climate-related risk assessment and disclosure experience
  • Preferred materiality analysis and experience with UN SDG alignment
  • Innovative thinker with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and results; creative thinker with strong interest in executing new strategies to drive increasing value to our stakeholders
  • Ability to work across multiple teams to create scalable solutions to monitor business performance and interpret key performance metrics into actionable recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  • Excellent PC skills including Office, Sharepoint, Smartsheet
