JOB TITLE: Associate, Financial Planning and Capital Markets

LOCATION: New York, NY or Fort Worth, TX







Position Overview:

The Associate will report directly to the CFO and Chief Accounting Officer of TPG RE Finance Trust, Inc. (NYSE: TRTX).  Primary responsibilities include financial modeling, liquidity planning, board presentations and investor relations  The role offers high visibility throughout TRTX and TPG (capital markets, financial planning, portfolio management, debt investments, accounting & tax, and investor relations), regular contact with the CEO, and frequent engagement with Street analysts and fixed income and equity investors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the TRTX corporate earnings model utilized to make capital raising and strategic decisions and to project earnings for the CEO, senior management, and the Board of Directors
  • Run multiple scenarios in earnings model to analyze impact on earnings at the loan level, impact of different financings, and impact of potential new deal structures, capital raises, acquisitions, etc.
  • Reconcile results of the earnings model to actual accounting results as part of the monthly accounting close
  • Maintain financial models for TRTX’s existing and future CRE CLOs utilized to evaluate alternative reinvestment strategies, cash flow projections, and monitor and test compliance with various CLO tests.
  • Compile meeting materials for meetings of the TRTX Board of Directors
  • Support the CFO in investor relations activities, including: preparing quarterly Earnings Supplemental; investor decks and other investment materials; tracking investor base; reconciling corporate earnings model with analyst model projections; and speaking with analysts to reconcile differences and modify modeling assumptions
  • Support capital markets team in managing existing financings, and evaluating and executing new financings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, statistics, or other quantitative disciplines; CPA or CFA helpful, but not required
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in investment banking, public accounting/consulting, structured finance, or investment management
  • Demonstrated ability in Excel-based financial analysis, financial modeling, and financial accounting.  Experience in real estate and capital markets is preferred, but not essential 
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Power BI or similar.  Experience with Bloomberg preferred, but not essential 
  • Practical knowledge of corporate finance concepts such as capital asset pricing model (“CAPM”), discounted cash flow, and other valuation methodologies
  • Highly organized, keen attention to detail, and capable multi-tasker
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with coworkers
  • Thrives in a rigorous, fast-paced work environment
