We are a privately held real estate lender specializing in tax-exempt bond financing looking for a financial controller, to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare timely monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for joint venture partners
• Prepare consolidating trial balance
• Prepare GAAP financial statements and related footnotes
• Work closely with external auditors for timely completion of audited financial statements
• Prepare annual budget and financial forecasts and report variances
• Update and create cash flow models
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Additional controller duties as necessary

Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant
• 4 to 5 years of public accounting experience (primary focus in auditing)
• Strong understanding of GAAP
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Able to work independently
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Proficient in Excel
• Experience with MAS 90 a plus
