The Real Estate Financing Group (REFG) within the Investment Banking Division in Dallas is looking for an Analyst/Associate with current banking (or related) experience to join the team. REFG’s Originations team is responsible for the sourcing, underwriting and execution of real estate transactions for our CRE origination business.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Originate commercial mortgage loans across a range of property types (office, retail, hotel, multi-family, self-storage, data centers) for the group’s standalone and conduit Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS) business, as well as for the bank’s balance sheet (a JV with the Merchant Banking Division).
  • Build and maintain relations with financial sponsors, REITs, pension funds, high net worth individuals and corporations.
  • Value commercial real estate assets across all classes and geographies.
  • Model asset level cash flows using ARGUS and Excel.
  • Perform market, property, and Sponsor due diligence.
  • Participate in all aspects of loan origination, from asset level due diligence to investor calls.
  • Liaise with the group’s Capital Markets, Credit and Securitization teams to determine execution and capital markets distribution strategies.
  • Analyze real estate trends and track industry-wide CMBS new issue activity.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3.5 years of work experience in the relevant field or MBA degree with relevant experience
  • Significant investment banking or equivalent experience
  • Experience with buy-side and sell-side M&A, equity and debt financing transactions required
  • Experience with due-diligence and transaction execution processes required
  • Strong financial modeling skills (including stress testing) and experience of building/maintaining operating models required
  • Experience of preparing and maintaining industry/company presentations and benchmarking materials and other process documents required
  • Exposure to financing capacity valuations, impact analyses, bid analyses and collateral data analyses required
  • Experience of financial valuations with knowledge of DCF, LBO, merger modeling, comparable companies, precedent transactions etc. required
  • Strong team orientation and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members in multiple groups and regions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Solid work ethic, motivation level, and strong attention to detail
  • Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities
  • Capacity to interact and build relationships with a wide range of people and also being as a point of contact
