ECONorthwest, a leading West Coast economic consulting firm, has an immediate opening for a full-time real estate development analyst in its Planning and Development practice. ECONorthwest is a 60-person consulting firm with offices in Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Boise, Bend, and Eugene.

ECONorthwest is seeking an experienced professional with expertise in real estate finance and/or development and strong financial analysis skills. This position will provide analytical support to projects relating to topics such as equitable development and urban revitalization, market-rate and affordable housing policy and strategies, transit-oriented development, economic development, private-sector real estate development and market analysis, land use policy, and public-private partnerships.

Required Qualifications

  • Real estate industry-specific education and/or work experience:

    • A master’s or bachelor’s degree focused on real estate finance/development or a closely related field, and/or

    • At least two years of professional experience directly related to real estate development (e.g., finance, economic development, affordable housing, or private sector developer).

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel

  • Strong skills in real estate financial analysis

  • Intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, with an interest in the economics of development and the public policy that enables development

  • Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented

  • Ability to work independently and with a team, including managing one’s own time and communicating effectively with teammates

  • Ability to summarize findings clearly through visuals, presentations, and/or written products.

 

Desired Qualifications and Skills

An ideal candidate will also have some of the following skills and qualifications:

  • Expertise in real estate development, including pro forma analysis, due diligence, financing, and/or construction.

  • Knowledge of affordable housing finance and development.

  • Experience with real estate market analysis.

  • Familiarity with relevant public policy issues: zoning and land use, housing affordability, economic development, and/or equitable development.

  • Knowledge of real estate, architecture, and construction trends.

  • Awareness of the historical inequities that often result from government policies and market forces in real estate.

  • A desire to improve public policy related to land use planning and development and to encourage more just and equitable outcomes.

  • Experience presenting findings and recommendations to clients and decision makers.

  • Experience working in a real estate development, consulting, or public sector context.

 

Location

Portland, Seattle, or Los Angeles.

 

ECONorthwest offers a hybrid work schedule.  To ensure opportunities for collaboration and teamwork, with the exception of remote workers, employees are expected to prioritize in-office work Tuesday through Thursday. 

 

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this full-time position will be commensurate with experience and market rates, roughly ranging from $60,000 to $97,000.

 

This position is exempt full-time. The selected candidate would be eligible for full company benefits. ECONorthwest offers competitive wages and generous benefits including medical/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, profit sharing, flexible spending accounts, 401(k), and paid holidays.
