The Opportunity

Bailard is seeking an Analyst to join its real estate team.  The Analyst will have a leading role in the property-level analytical activities for the Fund’s investments. The position will provide support to both the acquisitions and asset management disciplines, across all property types and geographies. The role’s duties include, but are not limited to, underwriting new investments, assisting with quarterly valuations on existing investments, and working with portfolio managers on annual budgets.

The real estate team is eager to identify a bright, energetic, hard-working, and enthusiastic candidate who is looking to join a small but growing team and excited about the opportunity to work closely with experienced real estate professionals at a dynamic and high-quality real estate investment and management platform. Outstanding oral and written communication skills are a must as well as the ability to adapt quickly, remain flexible, and manage multiple deadlines. The position’s duties and priorities will vary depending on the time of the quarter, transaction volume, and varying asset and portfolio management needs.  The position will report to a Senior Vice President.

 

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting financial analysis for potential acquisitions, including creating and modifying Argus models and Excel discounted cash flow and waterfall models. 
  • Assisting in reviewing and presenting quarterly valuations of existing assets.
  • Performing financial analysis to support investment-level decisions including new leases, capital plans, financings, and exit strategies.
  • Performing market research for prospective investments to determine underwriting assumptions.
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal investment memos for acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and re-financings.
  • Assisting in the due diligence process for new investments.
  • Helping prepare Annual Budgets and business plans of existing assets, including the preparation of hold/sell analyses.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate or related field
  • 2-3 years of work experience in commercial real estate
  • Strong proficiency in Excel with experience in discounted cash flow modeling and waterfall structures. Argus experience is a strong plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills. Detail oriented.
  • Desire to work across real estate disciplines and learn all asset classes.
  • Able to work independently but must enjoy working closely with fellow team members.
