SUMMARY   

Evergreen is looking for an Accounting Manager to serve as the firm’s internal resource for accounting and tax matters. The Accounting Manager will be an integral part of the firm’s closely knit headquarters team and will meet regularly with the partnership. Primary areas of responsibility include conducting accounting for the firm’s portfolio of internally managed multifamily properties in Washington DC and the corporate investment entities. The Accounting Manager will be the responsible party for the firm’s internal financial reports and will work closely with firm Principals to prepare and facilitate annual tax filings and payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Corporate Accounting & Administration

Conduct accounting for Evergreen Company investments and partnerships

  • Maintain general ledgers
  • Prepare and record revenue, expense, asset and liability entries
  • Maintain financial statements and prepare periodic financial reports
  • Support entity tax filings with external accountant and Evergreen Principals
  • Support audit(s) of Evergreen Company entities and lines of business as needed
  • Track and prepare financial reporting obligations to senior lenders

Multifamily Accounting

Support the property management team by conducting asset-level accounting for the firm’s 300-unit multifamily portfolio in Washington DC within the firm’s property management and accounting software (Yardi Breeze):

  • Maintain general ledgers
  • Prepare and record revenue, expense, asset and liability entries
  • Maintain financial statements and prepare monthly financial reports

Banking and Cash Management

  • Accounts Receivable / Revenue Recognition: Track all inbound payments and allocate revenues to correct accounts
  • Accounts Payable: Prepare all outbound payments for approval and process approved transactions
  • Transaction Closings: Support the transaction closing process in coordination with lenders and settlement companies (i.e. funding an investment, closing a loan, receiving a payoff, etc.)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years in accounting with strong preference for real estate related experience
  • Prior experience with Yardi, Yardi Breeze, or similar real estate accounting software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
