About Us
What You’ll Do at Live Oak
- Generate quality lending opportunities by developing and executing effective sales, marketing, and business development strategies within targeted CRE asset classes.
- Maintain pulse on CRE market conditions and asset class trends. Share information consistently so team remains informed and the lending strategy remains up to date.
- Take leadership position with respect to coverage of certain CRE asset classes.
- Perform preliminary due diligence on sponsors, market conditions, investors, tenants, and competition, prior to decision to pursue transactions. Lead pre-screen discussions with credit team when necessary.
- Prepare loan proposals reflecting structures that comply with Bank credit standards.
- Negotiate detailed loan terms with customers in collaboration with CRE team leadership. Review legal documentation during the closing process to ensure all negotiated deal points are incorporated.
- Recommend loans to credit committee for approval, including leading presentations and deal discussions. Be prepared to defend structure and terms recommendations and answer questions from credit and leadership about the project, customer, and asset class.
- Assist with training/mentorship of analyst pool as the CRE lending platform is built out.
- Develop or expand industry expertise and maintain strong relationships within the investment and CRE communities, particularly in the Bank’s asset class focus areas.
- Collaborate with capital markets team and assist in discussions with potential partner banks on larger loan transactions requiring syndication. Develop direct relationships with complimentary lenders and capital providers (2nd lien, mezzanine, preferred equity, etc) with similar industry focus, that can help provide joint solutions for customers and expand universe of opportunities.
- Attend trade shows and industry events to build network and support business development.
Required and Preferred Experience
- Prior lending (Bank, FinCo), investing (private equity, REIT, etc), or relevant investment/mortgage banking experience is required
- Prior CRE experience in underwriting, credit, or portfolio management with a credit-minded organization is valued
- Prior experience calling on, networking, and delivering capital solutions to sophisticated real estate investors, private equity, family offices, and HNW individuals is valued
- CRE asset class specialty is preferred, with desire to develop additional expertise in other asset classes over time to assist with CRE platform expansion
- Experience in multifamily, BTR, student housing, manufactured housing, medical office/life science or industrial real estate is valued
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required; relevant graduate level education is preferred; industry specific certifications are valued
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic and must work well with little supervision and be self-motivated to “drive” the deal process to the underwriting stage
