CoStar is seeking a National Director of US Office Analytics to join our growing analytics organization. The Director of US Office Analytics will coordinate CoStar’s coverage of the office sector across markets and will play a key role as the industry-facing representative of CoStar for the office sector and be responsible for delivering CoStar’s view and outlook of the market.

 

The Director is responsible for developing and implementing data-driven thought leadership and preparing analysis and commentary focused on the US office sector. The ideal candidate possesses extensive office expertise with the quantitative and qualitative abilities to craft a sophisticated house view of the themes relevant to the sector both nationally and at the regional level. The individual will have specific knowledge of commercial real estate capital markets, asset class performance and factors impacting supply and demand fundamentals.

 

The position can sit in any major US city, in an optional hybrid work environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Develop a national house view of the office sector and ensure that such a view is accurately delivered to and through the CoStar Market Analytics team

  • Establish and drive the vision and strategy for real estate data analytics specific to the office sector to advance the quality of the company’s applied data analysis platform

  • Cultivate continuous innovation of CoStar’s applied data deliverables by creating new quantitative analytic content and data visualizations to communicate sector-specific trends

  • Serve as CoStar’s subject matter expert on all office themes, trends, and topics; educate the broader CoStar Market Analytics team and CoStar’s clients on why these themes are relevant

  • Create national office market report content for CoStar’s analytic platform

  • Write and deliver monthly content for CoStar’s national office video updates

  • Present to CoStar’s existing and prospective clients

  • Represent CoStar at US office industry events and conferences

  • Compose regular news articles highlighting US office trends

  • Review local market content written by CoStar’s team of local market analysts

  • Contribute to the design and development of the CoStar office product

  • Contribute to CoStar’s Quantitative Analytics work in office forecasts, valuations, and analytics

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Advanced degree in economics, urban planning, real estate, or related field

  • Ten or more years of commercial real estate research experience, with a focus on US office markets

  • Proven record of producing high-quality analysis of trends throughout the office sector, including the operating and capital markets segments

  • Deep knowledge of the US CRE industry, its players, and its data sources

  • Broad knowledge of major US office markets

  • Proven ability to aggregate large and complex sets of data utilizing SQL or Excel, as well as some other data visualization tools such as PPT, Power BI and QGIS, to arrive at meaningful and unique insights

  • Strong analytical and writing skills

  • Effective and engaging presentation skills

 

This senior-level role will report to CoStar’s Vice President of Market Analytics.
