The ESG Manager is a key position on LivCor’s ESG team that will support the team and drive transformative change.  The role will broadly support implementation of strategies to measure and reduce environmental impact across the LivCor portfolio and will be keenly focused on driving water reduction strategies and reporting.  Key responsibilities include project analytics, sustainability data management, quarterly ESG board reporting, annual ESG reporting support and external 3rd party reporting compliance.

 What you will do:

  • Design and implement asset and portfolio level water reducing strategies, including operational and behavioral based reduction programs, quick payback capital projects (eg. common area and in-unit fixture replacements), deeper retrofit capital projects (eg. Xeriscaping and irrigation programs) and utilization of non-potable water.
  • Assist with project management for completion of identified energy, water, and waste reduction initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Provide clear and concise measurement and verification reporting of all water and sustainability activities, metrics (cost savings, water reduction, associated carbon reduction, etc), and achievements on prescribed intervals.
  • Manage our energy and water efficiency incentive application and submission processes
  • Work with external data providers and internal resources to schedule onsite audits to analyze energy, water, and waste consumption metrics and identify opportunities to sustain savings. 
  • Provide technical review for ongoing capital projects across the portfolio to incorporate best practices and water savings opportunities.
  • Support internal and external ESG reporting activities, including to industry standards such as the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB).
  • Actively manage national scale sustainability project initiatives from financial modeling and feasibility analysis and assisting in onsite execution and logistics coordination
  • Engage in the development and implementation of portfolio wide sustainability policies and programs
  • Aid in the development of corporate greenhouse gas footprint and decarbonization planning for both reducing both operational and embodied carbon
  • Participate in business process improvement projects
  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts and tasks, including liaison with various management teams including the operations and asset management teams
  • Take part in research assignments for new projects and technologies for use in the portfolio
  • Assist with capital and tactical planning and budgeting to accomplish the team’s goals and objectives
  • Seek to continuously improve processes, systems, and overall resident satisfaction.
  • Travel to communities as needed to identify reduction opportunities and oversee initiative implementation (up to 25% of time)

 

What you should have:

  • 5+ years industry experience in a corporate environment, real estate holding company or major consulting company, with a preference in the multifamily sector
  • Bachelors Degree in STEM preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of the green building industry, including the EPA ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager System, LEED and ENERGY STAR certification processes and key corporate sustainability/ESG reporting frameworks (eg. GRESB and CDP)
  • Experience in project management with an established track record of overseeing successfully both short and long term with interim and measurable goals
  • Experience with greenhouse gas protocols and carbon accounting in the real estate sector
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Previous project management experience
  • Passion for addressing sustainability, energy, and water reduction areas
  • Superior analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and all Microsoft office applications
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks projects. Well organized, capable of multitasking and managing their time well
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  Collaborate at all levels, working with team members, senior management, and business owners to move projects forward.
