Job Description

The Analyst will support the overall origination, underwriting and closing process for affordable and workforce multifamily debt and property-level equity transactions. The Analyst will work independently and report to the Vice President of Investments. This will include, but not limited to:

  • Evaluate and underwrite new debt and equity investment opportunities. Request and maintain due diligence documents and checklists to facilitate the closing process
  • Coordinate and engage third-party vendors including appraisal, market study, environmental, insurance and construction inspections
  • Prepare internal and external investment memoranda to include sponsor, market and property level information, cash flows, and risk mitigants
  • Actively collaborate with the team, attorneys, transaction counterparts to perform due diligence throughout the closing process  

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities 

  • Professional experience in commercial real estate, especially multifamily as a debt underwriter, property acquisitions analyst or servicer, or other hands-on relevant experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of real estate finance, market fundamentals and equity investment and property valuation principles.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to effectively resolve moderately complex situations and issues.
  • Must be results oriented with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Meticulous with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external individuals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics or Mathematics.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in multifamily, experience in affordable housing as a debt underwriter or property acquisition analyst is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of Low Income Housing Tax Credits, HUD Project based Section 8 contracts and Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae affordable housing programs a plus but not required.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
