Development Associate

The Company

United Growth was founded in 1986 and specializes in national necessity retail real estate development and investment.  The firm has a proven track record of successfully executing development and redevelopment projects across the United States.  United Growth launched its private equity fund series in 2015 and is rapidly growing the portfolio.  The firm is currently investing its second fund and has begun marketing its third fund.  United Growth is directed by a management team with diversified real estate experience (including significant experience with prominent real estate investment institutions) in the acquisition, re-positioning, development, construction, leasing, financing, and operators of retail property. 

The Role

We are currently seeking candidates to fill a Development Associate position in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Rafael, CA - in person).  The Development Associate will be responsible for supporting the department lead across the full development life cycle and will work hand in hand with the acquisitions and leasing departments.

The successful candidate will be a resourceful self-starter who is a creative problem solver.  Strong interpersonal abilities are needed to interface with internal executives, investment committees, tenants, and vendors.

Key Duties & Responsibilities - Development Associate

• Manage multiple projects through the due diligence and project feasibility stage
• Reaching out to municipalities to research zoning, entitlements, impact fees, etc.
• Provide creative input and solutions to complex design and entitlement challenges.
• Assist with coordination of internal project team members including acquisitions, leasing, and asset management.
• Assist senior staff in preparing site plans for tenants.
• Assemble and manage development teams including architects, engineers, contractors, attorneys, and other professionals.
• Manage project close out process.
• Coordinate internal/external development team to ensure adherence to project budget and schedule.
• Manage DealPath project updates (United Growth’s transactions database), prepare internal reports, and provide project updates to weekly all hands meetings.

Qualifications

• B.A./B.S. required
• 2+ years of real estate experience, preferably with design, construction and/or project entitlement experience
• Team oriented
• Careful attention to detail
• Thoughtful, methodical, and well-organized approach to work
• Ability to balance competing priorities and work successfully within tight deadlines
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient and experienced in MS Excel, PowerPoint
• Valid U.S. Drivers License
• Experience with CAD and/or Revit is a plus
