Training Department Purpose: To support our customers with highly competent and deeply caring team members.

 

Job Description: Vice President of Training

 

Reporting: Position reports to Vice President of Marketing & Training

 

CWS Portfolio: 105 properties, 30,000+ A units in North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, California, Tennessee, and Washington.

 

Location: Corporate Office, Austin, TX

Employee Responsibility: Currently three training department team members report up through this position.

What You Will Do

As Vice President of Training, you will be responsible for all aspects of training, education, certifications, and development for all on-site team members. Just as importantly, we are seeking a candidate who has the background, capacity, and skills to support the three training department team members. Our expectations are for you to:

Ensure all on-site team members are confident that their knowledge, skills, and certifications enable them to do their jobs with excellence.

  • Create engaging classes designed to maximize retention among adult learners.
  • Develop training outlines based on knowledge or skill gap analysis.
  • Ensure each training class clearly outlines the objectives, exercises or activities, and media needs within the lesson plan.
  • Assess the efficacy of training through knowledge checks, participant surveys, and other forms of evaluation which measure retention or behavioral changes after the class.

 

Equip new hires with the skills they need to be successful through implementing a training plan by role for each individual employee on-site.

  • Establish and implement training plans, by on-site role, to ensure each new hire, transfer, or promoted team member receives position-specific education.
  • Prioritize the rubric each new hire, transfer, or promoted team member receives by order of importance to the role and expectations.
  • Ensure new hire training plans and required certifications are completed on-time and documented properly in the Learning Management System (LMS) for each on-site team member.

Implement an Advanced Training course catalog for all team members to participate in online, on-demand, to support their continuing education.

  • Develop and implement an online learning platform, including online content, to support the organization s goal of a mostly digital learning format. Keep content up to date.
  • Provide training for on-site team members when new policies, systems, or implementations occur.
  • Organize education, certificates, and activities within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Ensure information in the LMS is current by maintaining a relevant course catalog.
  • Record participant attendance, test scores, and individual development plans as needed.
  • Contribute to the learning library by preparing accurate written assets. Examples include job-aids, job guides, tip sheets, FAQs, flow charts, and step-by-step instructions

 

Ensure the Operations Policy and Procedure manual is up to date.

 

Do a great job managing the training team.

  • Hire/manage a friendly, capable, and competent training team to support our on-site team members.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and development to training department team members.
  • Be a team player with a willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done.

 

 

Effectively collaborate with other departments in the company.

 

  • Collaborate with various departments to understand where knowledge and skill gaps exist on-site and provide ongoing training to address those needs.
  • Work with Operations Senior Leadership and Department Heads to align on which rollouts, significant policy changes, or implementations will occur each year and the timing of each.
  • Create clear departmental KPI s to track, monitor and evaluate the efficacy of educational programs.
  • Regularly review training assets for accuracy.
  • As needed, source best-in-class partnerships with external educators.
  • On a continual basis, audit and update the company s policy and procedure manual.

 

Coordinate and execute CWS annual National Meeting and other learning events.

Requirements

 

  • Four-year Bachelor s degree required, graduate experience a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience leading a department, or other executive level strategic planning and management.
  • 3+ years of experience in a training or education role.
