The Director of Graduate and Executive Degree Programs, a key member of the , provides career leadership and support for students pursuing graduate and executive degree programs at McDonough, with a primary program liaison to the new M.S. in Global Real Assets (MS-GRA) academic degree program and students; monitors and tracks career trends; monitors and maintains close attention to evolving employment trends in real estate, management, data science and business analytics; distills career-relevant information for students seeking to join related industries and organization; and takes the initiative to connect with organizations and businesses outside of Georgetown to gather information and insight on trends to prepare students for identified career outcomes.


The core responsibilities are as follows:


Communications

  • Establish, drive and strategically advance the mission of graduate and executive degree career outcomes “stories” by developing communication strategies to impact a diverse set of internal and external audiences (employers, students, prospective employers, prospective students, alumni, faculty and staff). These communications facilitate knowledge of the graduate and executive degree courseware, coaching, network connections, and annual outcomes.
  • Lead projects for the graduate and executive degree programs’ highly visible, annual marketing pieces.

Career Development Curricula

  • Partner with the Assistant Dean, Graduate and Executive Degree Programs, and the Director, Career Curricular and Communications, to design and execute a set of comprehensive and effective career curricula, ensuring that our Master of Science Global Real Assets (MS-GRA) students are employer-ready in the competitive global recruiting environment, and equipping our emerging business leaders with advanced career development frameworks, practices, and support. These advanced curricula, offered to all graduate and executive degree students, create a positive distinction for the Georgetown graduate and executive degree programs over its competitors. The Director’s primary focus is on students in the MSGRA program, with a secondary focus on students in the Master of Science in Management (MiM) and MSBA programs.
  • Serve in an interdisciplinary role, working with various McDonough Career Center team members, multiple departments across the McDonough School of Business (Program Offices, Admissions, Communications), and current students to ensure the development experience is comprehensive.
  • Manage prospective students' and admits' large-scale career onboarding - working closely with the Graduate and Executive Degree Programs Admissions Teams - to ensure that all matriculating students are successfully handed forward to the Program teams.

Coaching & Special Program Management

  • Create and maintain special expanded program career services – such as specialized coaching programs, career exploration programs and career treks.

Curricular & Digital Resource Management

  • Oversee and audit digital curricula resources (e.g., Canvas and Handshake) to improve the quality of curricula presentation; and create and manage annual success story collection, and implement a coordinated internal web resource (Handshake, 12Twenty).
  • This role requires a highly collaborative manager with a strategic mindset, attention to detail, and effective communication (written, presentation, and teaching) skills.

Relationship Management

  • Build relationships with students, alumni, and employers who are interested in hiring students will be critical to this role.
  • Develop new and grow existing relationships with alumni and employer contacts to create recruiting pipelines into organizations for graduate and executive degree students, emphasizing the real estate industry.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Graduate and Executive Degree Programs, McDonough Career Center, the Director takes the initiative to connect with organizations and businesses outside of Georgetown to gather information and insight on trends in real estate, management, and data science and business analytics to prepare students for the appropriate career pathways.

 

They are also responsible for developing and coordinating career events, often with notable alumni and employer guests, focused on key industries of interest to graduate and executive degree students.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Real Estate, Business, Human Resources or a related discipline
    5 to 7 years of progressive experience in the real estate industry, recruiting, or human resources / career development field – preference for a business school setting
  • Career expertise with specific insights into job search and promotions strategy, tools and practice
  • Demonstrated ability to provide thoughtful, developmental career coaching in one-on-one, small, and large group settings; strong leadership, coaching/advising skills
  • In-depth understanding of the recruitment and job search landscape in the real estate, business analytics, and management industries
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across a variety of constituents, including students in graduate and executive degree programs, corporate recruiters and employers, alumni, faculty and staff
  • Exceptional executive-level presentation design and delivery skills
  • Expert interpersonal and workplace diplomacy skills, and knowledge of effectively conveying messages to key stakeholders; high-level competency with integrated communications
  • Strong public speaking ability, and excellent professional writing and editing skills both to inform and influence across digital and traditional print media
  • Ability to think strategically and develop new programs to address needs of stakeholders; proven leadership
  • Experience utilizing virtual content delivery platforms and other digital systems, including but not limited to Zoom, WebEx, GoTo Webinar, Qualtrics, Salesforce, Loom, Basecamp, and Dreamweaver

Preferred qualifications

  • Commercial real estate industry knowledge and experience
  • Competency with online media to include databases, inter and intranet, social media sites, and campus recruiting software
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
