About Stanford Real Estate
Stanford Real Estate (SRE) manages the University’s land endowment, comprised of 14 million square feet of office, R&D and hotel assets, valued at $4.5 billion AUM.  SRE, a department within Land, Buildings and Real Estate (LBRE), reports to the Stanford Management Company Board of Directors.  LBRE serves Stanford University’s academic mission through the development and operations of the University’s 8,180 acres of land holdings, of which 4,200 acres dedicated for campus and related uses.  Stanford Real Estate oversees the remaining 3,900 acres for commercial, hospitality, residential and agricultural uses. About the Senior Associate
This is the ideal position to experience all phases of the real estate investment, development and asset management process. The Senior Associate is responsible for a variety of analytical and project management duties and will play an active role in all value-creation strategies and transactions on Stanford’s prestigious lands. Using creativity and critical thinking, and working collaboratively within a dynamic environment, the Senior Associate will gain exposure to several real estate asset classes and build strong relationships with high profile real estate investors and developers, and best-in-class tenants.
 
Given the highly strategic nature of the portfolio, the Senior Associate is a critical team member who works directly with two Associate Vice Presidents, three Managing Directors, and five Directors within Stanford Real Estate. The Senior Associate’s primary responsibilities include determining the annual valuation of all real estate assets, preparing investment strategy materials and performance reports for board members and senior university officials, evaluation of real estate opportunities and potential developments, and structuring complex transactions, including ground lease extensions, acquisitions and dispositions.  It is a two-year fixed term position, with an option to stay for a third year, reporting directly to the Managing Director, Asset Management.
 
About You
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and self-directed analytical thinker, is practiced at developing a variety of strategic financial analyses, is able to learn new concepts quickly, displays attention to accuracy and detail, and resolves challenges with minimal supervision. The Senior Associate will be expected to capably develop discounted cash flow analyses (using present value/IRR calculations), development pro formas, sensitivity analyses, and other financial models on an as needed basis.  This position offers a blend of autonomy and the chance to collaborate with a variety of prospective investors and business partners having high levels of investment sophistication.
 
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience, preferably in the investment banking, real estate finance, or management consulting industries.  Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and, familiarity with other investment management software tools, including Argus, is preferred.
