Description

As a Business Operations Director for Global Workplace Design, and Connectivity (WD+C), you will play a central role in helping the WD+C team deliver game changing innovation through a revolutionized world class employee experience based on locations that matter most enabling our business.  You will work closely with the WD+C Vice President and leadership team to develop, communicate and execute strategic, operational, and financial plans, helping the team analyze, prioritize, and execute against its strategic roadmap, and lead/co-lead our annual planning processes (Plan the Work, Resource the Plan, Work the Plan).

 

In addition, you will be responsible for project management of select cross-functional initiatives, liaising with functional leaders and lending a diverse skillset of planning, analytics, strategic thought leadership and communication. Finally, you will play the role of “chief of staff” for the WD+C Leadership Team, with responsibilities that include managing and facilitating staff meetings and Leadership Team off-sites/working sessions, QBR, performance management, business analysis/scenario planning and ROI analysis in support of strategic priorities, cross-functional steering committee meetings and keeping the team on-task to established goals and timelines.

 

Doing all this requires a unique individual. You must be a self-starter, flexible thinker and outstanding communicator who is comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing different personalities and perspectives up to an Executive level. You must possess an ability to see the big picture and connect operational activities to larger business and financial objectives. And you should be able to ‘story-tell’ appropriately to provide clarity and simplicity to ambiguous and complex business scenarios. You will need those skills as you work across multiple WD+C teams and across multiple functions, living within Nike’s matrixed organization. Success will depend on your ability to quickly form both professional and personal relationships with colleagues and leveraging those connections to drive to rigorous, well-communicated deliverables. 

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Strong experience in strategy development, innovation management, process and project management, and financial management in a global setting
  • Experience structuring and leading system-level strategic projects and strategic problem- solving skills that capture an end to end view of the business
  • Successful track-record partnering with executive-level professionals to drive business outcomes and serving them as a trusted advisor
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and provide direction to drive to results
  • Strong quantitative background regarding how shareholder value is created through a variety of financial analysis frameworks (ROI, NPV, Real Options Theory)
  • Commanding understanding of scenario planning, SWOT analysis, and other predictive analytics techniques

  • Strategic thinker: able to conduct “white space strategy,” taking a complex problem and developing a framework to evaluate options, weigh out the benefits and risks, make a well- founded recommendation, and communicate a suitable action plan
  • Strong “peripheral vision” and ability to automatically see opportunities in a highly-nuanced domain to make connections that will drive efficiency and alignment.
  • High attention to detail
  • Comfort working under pressure and to tight deadlines while operating in a matrixed environment where building consensus and bring others along is of high value

  • The ability to author executive-ready, high-impact presentations and to present complex topics simply and through compelling narratives to a senior audience in a variety of settings


Qualifications

Requirements for the position include:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • MBA or advanced degree is preferred
  • 8+ years total work experience (2 additional years’ experience in lieu of an advanced degree)
  • Prior experience in business development, business/strategic planning, management consulting, finance or related fields is strongly preferred. Candidates with both strategy and financial skills will standout
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Project management, problem structuring and strategic problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed and comfortable working in ambiguous environments
  • Passion for sustainability, product and sport
