Description

In 2019, Friends of the High Line (FHL) will celebrate 20 years of its founding and 10 years since the first section of the High Line opened to the public. People across the country and the world have now been inspired to look at their own cities and to create innovative public spaces. FHL has been approached by over a hundred organizations, community groups, city agencies and municipal leaders that are trying to catalyze and/or sustain similar projects.

Through the High Line Network, which launched in 2015, individuals involved in these new and existing projects work and learn together in a number of key areas—project advocacy, community engagement, fundraising, design, value capture, operations, and more. In addition to facilitating this learning community, the Network develops research products and tools for the wider industrial reuse field and evaluates joint initiatives and advocacy efforts. Ultimately, the Network aims to help the field set a new standard of success: industrial reuse projects that foster equitable economic, social, and environmental benefits for their surrounding communities and cities.

The Senior Director will have the rare opportunity to impact industrial reuse projects nationally and worldwide while shaping the vision and leadership for the High Line Network in 2019 and beyond.
