In-House Counsel for Tri-State Real Estate Investment & Management Firm
Executive offices in Greenwich, CT with operations office in Jericho, NY
The Company: a family-owned real estate company which acquires, owns and manages its privately held commercial real estate portfolio located primarily in Long Island. A small, nimble team oversees all company functions in-house, including leasing, design, construction, property management, legal, finance and accounting. All employees have direct, hands-on responsibility for their departments and are expected to be able to handle them independently within a collaborative, team-oriented business approach.
The Position: Legal counsel directly handling all day-to-day real estate leasing and property management related activities, property sales and acquisitions and mortgage financings and general oversight of outside counsel in areas of specialization, such as environmental, litigation and landlord/tenant court proceedings. Ability to handle related limited partnership and limited liability organizational governance and documentation issues is preferable but not required.
The company seeks counsel who has sufficient business acumen to participate in the analysis of business opportunities and eventually play a direct role in transactional decision-making. Experience in a real estate operating company is preferred.
Required experience:
- Must be licensed as an attorney in New York; Connecticut license helpful but not required.
- Must have at least six years’ experience practicing real estate law with solid leasing experience.
