MIM Real Estate maintains a portfolio comprised of equity real estate investments, commercial mortgages and agricultural mortgages on behalf of MetLife and third-party clients. MIM Real Estate’s Equity Strategies Group (ESG) sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional offices in the U.S. and International offices in London, Tokyo, Mexico City and Santiago.  The Associate Director – Assistant Portfolio Manager will provide support for MIM Real Estate’s approximate $12 billion Managed Account platform with direct responsibility for a select portion of this portfolio.  Specific responsibilities include; oversight of, and active involvement in, the execution of property level strategic plans (e.g. leasing goals and major capital initiatives), monitoring client account performance and investment strategy with respect to stated mandate goals, supporting the Portfolio Managers regarding new investment selection and investment analysis, preparation of account performance reporting and other client facing communications.  The Associate Director - Assistant Portfolio Manager will have a direct impact on MIM Real Estate’s ability to provide best-in-class; account performance, asset sourcing, and customer service.

   

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Monitor portfolio and asset level account performance; ensure accounts are operating in accordance with governing documents and stated strategies.
  • Active involvement (collaborating with MIM Real Estate’s regional asset managers) in executing account specific leasing goals and major capital improvement initiatives.
  • Work with the regional asset managers and acquisition teams in the preparation of new investment or major decision recommendations for Portfolio Management and client approval.
  • Support the Portfolio Managers and Head of Acquisitions in effectively communicating account acquisition strategies to MIM Real Estate’s regional acquisition specialists.
  • Play a critical role in the development of annual business plans and financial performance projections.
  • Build trusted relationships with existing client base, which includes periodic client visits, asset/market tours and MIM Real Estate regional office communications.   Assist in coordinating quarterly and annual client meetings as necessary, providing content and insights consistent with best in class asset managers.
  • Oversee the completion of monthly / quarterly / annual reporting packages, including account performance attribution analysis, for clients and internal Portfolio Management.
  • Provide broader Portfolio Management support for ESG’s various other investment accounts and new initiatives, and partner with other MIM business partners including; Investor Services, Legal, Finance and Compliance in support of MIM’s targeted growth and performance goals.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Ability to multitask in, high performance, collaborative environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Argus.
  • Familiarity with other real estate specific applications, such as; View The Space (VTS), Chatham Financial and MRI/Yardi a plus.
  • To post for this position, you need the proper work authorization to work in the country where the position is located and not require relocation assistance.

 

Preferred:

  • BA/BS in real estate or finance, MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in institutional real estate investment management, preferably in an asset management or portfolio management capacity.
