JOB SUMMARY
  

Manages a team of fund accounting managers to provide accurate and timely client reporting for assigned portfolios of investment funds. Implements processes to ensure compliance with reporting requirements. Assists in managing client relationships for various funds. Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the accounting systems.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  


Participates and/or leads all aspects of internal and external property and client transitions. Works with other internal teams in handling special requirements as defined in the Management Agreement and scope of services in the Financial Services Agreement.

Troubleshoots escalated issues and ensures internal and external customer requests are handled timely, accurately and with a focus on customer service. Creates a positive customer experience by opening and maintaining constructive and reliable lines of communication.

Verifies and ensures accounting team's debt, real estate tax, sales tax and owner distribution payments are made timely and internal databases are updated and maintained accordingly.

May review staff work product, including financial packages, to ensure its complete, accurate and timely release to internal departments and external clients.

Partners with their accounting teams to ensure they have a working knowledge of team's client Management Agreements and that they are properly maintained per department policy and requirements/terms. Ensures team managers are reviewing management fee calculations to be in accordance with the current Management Agreement.

Reviews the Corporate A/R reports to ensure reconciliations are completed and reviewed by their team. Ensures open issues for the team are resolved.


Reviews budgets and annual year-end recovery calculations to ensure timely completion from a comprehensive perspective.



Reviews and signs-off on acquisition fees, management fees and incentive fees/carried interest calculations. Prepares complex incentive fees/carried interest calculations.

Plans, coordinates and manages the consolidation process of the investor's accounts, including commingled funds and institutional investors' separate accounts.

May function as a single point of contact for a market and/or fund. May participate in new business proposals.

Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the accounting systems.

Assists Senior Management with implementation of strategic department and corporate initiatives

Reviews capital calls for fund and co-investment investors. Reviews the consolidated 90 day cash forecasts for commingled funds, and monthly cash forecasts for separate account investors as required.

Participates in external audits as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  


Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  

Degree from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting, finance or related field required. A minimum of eight years accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Prior experience in fund level accounting required with real estate accounting or fund accounting software systems. Requires prior supervisory experience and experience with real estate accounting or fund accounting software systems.


CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
  


CPA, CMA or other relevant professional certifications a plus.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  


Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired action.


FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
  


Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms, principles and compliance. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.


REASONING ABILITY
  


Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.


OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
  


Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite Products). Ability to work in multiple accounting software applications.


SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
  


Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve general results. Responsible for setting department deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to clients, co-workers, supervisor, department and/or line of business.
