Job Purpose:

The Manager, Loan Asset Management is responsible for proactively monitoring loan performance and conducting loan surveillance, from loan funding through to repayment, for a portfolio of Trez Forman commercial real estate loans. 


Primary Accountabilities:

  • Reviews draw requests made by borrowers, together with third party consultant reports retained by the lender and makes recommendations for making construction/development loan advances, in accordance with the loan agreement and approved policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and interprets loan documentation to ensure accuracy of reporting, collections and representations made by borrowers.
  • Provides proactive loan surveillance, ensuring that borrowers remain compliant with the terms outlined in the original loan documents.  Oversees borrower compliance with financial and non financial covenants, including milestone hurdles, reporting requirements and performance metrics.  Make recommendations for action in the event of non-compliance.
  • Reviews construction loan draws and project progress against milestones, including working with construction consultants to ensure borrowers have achieved conditions precedent to funding.
  • Reports and actively pursues resolution of past due items and matters of default in accordance with agreed upon terms.
  • Requests reporting packages and updates from borrowers to complete reports and analysis, as necessary.
  • Produces monthly and quarterly loan surveillance summaries which contain all relevant information related to monitoring borrower performance against business plan and compliance against loan documents, as well as aggregated portfolio metrics.
  • Identifies and analyzes under-performing and troubled loans, and works closely with the Senior Vice President, Finance to analyze and recommend strategies for resolving under performing loans.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Commerce, with a specialization in Real Estate and/or Finance or equivalent qualifications.
  • Advanced degree (MBA) preferred
  • 5+ years of related work experience in the commercial real estate loan asset management industry; experience with various property types, including – lot development, construction, office, retail, industrial and multi-family.
