It is not a frivolous time. Unlike times during the 2007 hiring frenzy, when it took 54 clicks on a job to get one application and compensation offers were off the charts, every day’s news has a sobering effect. Yet, from a hiring perspective opportunities remain consistently high, and job seekers steadily, albeit selectively, apply. In every 2016 budget discussion, the good news comes from clients who confirm the hiring pace will continue into 2016. While our industry is not running on fumes anymore, because substantial hiring has occurred since 2013, we are still running lean. There’s definitely more runway. The November Jobs Report and SelectLeaders Real Estate Job Network mirrored each other – healthcare, hospitality, retail topped the charts for opportunities, and accounting and bookkeeping were highly sought after skillsets. However, the most reassuring trend is jobs are widely distributed with hiring at all levels, in all sectors and all locations, which is the real sign of stability in the year ahead.
